Grandma’s Chocolate Cake

This will bring back memories of your Grandma’s Chocolate Cake.  The recipe was my grandmother’s and it is amazing that even now, many years after she passed away, I can mention her chocolate cake to any of my relatives and instantly it brings back memories.

Black Eyed Peas for a Healthy and Prosperous New Year

New Quilt Just Finished!

If you have been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know that I am trying to get back into quilting after several years of my focus being on my kids.  Now one is out of college and the other in almost done with college, I feel I can relax a bit and breathe – so back to quilting.

I just finished quilting this quilt over the weekend and I think it came out pretty nice.  Especially since it is the first quilt I have quilted by machine in six  years.

The pattern name is “Eclipse” by Timeless Treasures.  You can visit their website and get several free patterns by clicking on the “Projects” tab at the top.  The website is:  www.ttfabrics.com

Eclipse 2   Finished Size:  60 inches X 75 inches

Below is my first attempts at “free-handing” feathers.  I have always loved feather quilting but have been afraid to try it because it looks very tedious.  Not so.  Just draw it on paper several times until you get some muscle memory for the design then have at it.  Very easy and the results are pretty great, I think.

Eclipse 3

So, that is it for this quilt.  Many more are coming so check back soon.

Happy New Year to you, your family and friends.  May you have a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2014!
