Glazed Green Beans
Are you looking for something a little special to serve for dinner tonight but don’t want a lot of trouble. Glazed Green Beans are an easy, delicious alternative to regular green beans and I bet you have everything you need already. The bacon gives a slight saltiness and the brown sugar adds a slight sweetness. Great way to get kids to each veggies too because of the sweetness.
Glazed Green Beans
1 lb. frozen green beans, any style will do
2 slices bacon cut into lardons and fried crispy
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1/2 c chicken stock (can also use beef, veg., or water)
2 t brown sugar
After you have fried the bacon, remove it from the grease (save the grease) to a bowl and set aside. Add the onions to the bacon fat and cook until translucent. Add the green beans and continue cooking. While you are waiting, add the brown sugar to the chicken stock and whisk to combine. After the green beans have sautéed a few minutes, pour the chicken stock with the brown sugar over the beans, give a stir and continue to cook until the liquid has almost evaporated. Remove from the heat and place in a serving bowl. Sprinkle the reserved bacon over the top and serve.
