Best Fried Pickles in the World!!
These are the best fried pickles in the world! Make sure to have the pickle good a dry before you start or they will end up greasy.
Fried Pickles
1 jar of dill pickle chips, drain and lay on paper towels to absorb as much moisture as possible
1.5 c flour
1/3 c yellow corn meal
1/3 c. corn starch
1.5 t. onion powder
2 t. garlic powder
1/4 t cayenne pepper
1 egg lightly beaten with 1 T water
salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl, mix together the flour, corn meal, corn starch, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Dredge the dry pickle slices in the flour mixture and set aside.
In another small bowl, lightly beat together the egg and water. Dip the dredged pickle chips in the egg mixture and coat again in the flour mixture. Set aside.
In a medium skillet, heat enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet by about 1/2 inch. When the oil is hot, dip the pickle chips again in the flour mixture and immediately lower into the hot oil (carefully!!!). Cook on each side until a golden brown. Remove and let drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot.
