2011 Chateau St. Michelle, Columbia Valley, Riesling $9
I have been holding on to this review for a bit because I wanted to try another bottle to make sure my assessment was correct. It was!
This wine is unbelievable to put it mildly. The first taste is soft, silky and luxurious with juicy pears as the predominate flavor followed by ever so slight sweet apricots and tangerines on the finish. As I have told you before, I am not a white wine person. I much prefer a hearty red to any white but I am finding that opinion changing. I don’t know whether it is age or wine or age and wine or what, but a lot of the whites I have reviewed have been very satisfying in deed. I think this wine would be great with toasted pine nuts, almonds, parmesan cheese, and dried fruits.
4 out of 5 stars. Probably wouldn’t buy a case because I’m not sure where I would put it but would definitely invest in several bottles.
