Korean Barbeque Marinade
Summer is almost here! I have the grill cleaned off and revved up to go. If you are like me, you are always looking for new ways to kick the grill up a notch. I am always on the look out for new marinades and grill recipes. Here is one that I have been playing with and I think it has turned out pretty well. I have used it on chicken, flank steak (we love bison instead of beef), and shrimp. I have a friend that uses this on grilled salmon and loves it. Give it a try – it might just become your favorite.
Korean Barbeque Marinade
1 1/2 c. mango juice
1 T agave syrup
4 green onions, finely minced (including the white part)
5 large cloves of garlic, finely minced
2 T sesame oil
2 T toasted sesame seeds
1/4 t fresh ground black pepper
1/2 t crushed red pepper flakes
2 T white wine
1/2 c soy sauce (I used Tamari)
1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
In a medium to large bowl, mix all the ingredients. Whisk to make sure the syrup is blended well.
Add your meat, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
Shrimp – marinate for 2 hours
Chicken – marinate for at least 2 hours, better yet 4 hours.
Red meat – marinate for at least 2 hours, better yet overnight.
Grill until your desired doneness is reached.
