2010 Chateau St. Michelle, Indian Wells, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley

This wine has a beautiful deep purple color and a fruity, spicy aroma. The first sip strikes me as a little tannin-y but the fruitiness quickly moves you past that. The flavors that follow are juicy blackberry, cherry, and raspberry with a peppery finish. The tannins are relatively mild for a cab and there is a jamminess to the wine with a low acidity. This would be a good wine if you don’t have a lot of experience with cabs but are looking to move into the varietal. Would go well with a medium red meat or a spicy chicken since it is not a heavy cab.
I tried this wine because Chateau St. Michelle, Indian Wells has a Merlot that I absolutely love and I wanted to check if this experience was similar. While I like this wine, I probably wouldn’t buy a case, but having a few bottles around couldn’t hurt.
3 out of 5 stars.
