The Easiest, Tastiest Sugar Cookies You Will Ever Cut Out!

I love this sugar cookie recipe!  Not only is it super easy, it also tastes great and cut-out cookies don’t come out of the oven with the shape distorted.  These cookies are delicious even without the icing.

Sugar Cookies 1

Sugar Cookies number of cookies varies based on size of cookie cutter

25 oz. AP flour

2 c butter, room temp.

8 oz. powdered sugar

4 egg yolks

4 t vanilla paste

I make this in the food processor because the dough is really stiff,  but you can also use a heavy-duty mixer.

Place the flour and butter in the food processor and process until the it looks like corn meal.  Add the egg yolks, vanilla paste, and powdered sugar.  Continue to process until you have a smooth dough.  Flatten the dough into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap.  Refrigerate for 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll the cookie dough out onto a lightly floured surface and cut out the cookies (I roll my dough about 1/4 inch thick).  Place the cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet (you can place them fairly close together, but not touching).  Bake for 13 – 15 minutes or until light golden brown.  Remove from oven and allow to cool before removing from the baking sheet.

Icing

3 c powdered sugar

1/4 c water

food coloring gel

2 T Wilton Color Flow (optional)

Place powdered sugar in a medium small bowl and add the Color Flow if you are using.  Add water 1 T at a time, mixing until you get the desired consistency.  Divide into bowl and add food coloring gel.  Decorate as desired.  You can also add flavoring to you icing.

NOTES:  I get my cookies cutters from Coppergifts.com  They have a large variety of sizes and designs plus the cutters are crafted from heavy copper so they will last a very long time.  Also, I love AmeriColor Food Coloring from KitchenKrafts.com  They have powdered as well as 100% natural food coloring in a huge selection of colors.
