Fried Zucchini

Now this recipe brings back so many wonderful memories of my parents and their garden in southern Illinois.  All the wonderful vegetables my dad would grow and we would feast on during the summer – tomatoes, onions, garlic, green beans, zucchini, summer squash, okra, etc.

I haven’t posted much on wine lately.  Mostly because I have been busy with the terracing project in our yard (Lord help me to keep my big mouth shut).  So last night I decide to relax a bit with a nice glass of wine.  After all, if has been a grueling summer here in Colorado with highs most days in the mid 90’s.

From the moment I opened the Cakebread Chard. I enjoyed the soft oakiness and the crisp smell of apple and the color is a beautiful pale, pale golden color.  Thankfully the flavor of crisp apple aroma didn’t translate to the sharp flavor that I feared (it isn’t one of my favorite tributes to chardonnay’s).  This wine has pleasant flavors of apricot, pear, melon and light oak.

I would rate this at a 3.5.  I think it would cellar fairly well and would improve with another year or two.  Would I purchase more?  Maybe 4 – 6 bottles.  I like this wine even though I’m not a huge fan of chards, but they are starting to grow on me.  I just don’t know if I’m ready to invest a full case quite yet.
